Shawna Ryan, a graduate of Dwight-Englewood High School in New Jersey, is co-anchor of MSG Varsity’s signature daily one-hour sports show, High School SportsDesk, where she won a 2011 Emmy for her "Societal Concerns" feature on the Boys and Girls varsity basketball team. Prior to joining MSG Varsity, Ryan hosted the New York Islander's hockey show “Islanders Illustrated” on MSG. Ryan’s first job in journalism was with ABC's Good Morning America Weekend Edition and ABC's 20/20 as a production assistant. She began her on-air reporting career first as a freelance journalist for NY1 and News 12 in Westchester and the Hudson Valley before she joined News 12 Connecticut as a live shot reporter.
